It's a direct current motor, nothing exciting there in terms of technology. But testers seem to like the result. As for the rest: no, no, maybe. Direct current is not exactly new. Please see Edison vs. Tesla.

Ok, so after a week of on & off shooting with it, some impressions:

Pros:
Quite sharp for the range, even wide open (better stopped down, of course)
Very useful range
Fast, quiet, accurate AF
Very compact
Nice build quality
Bokeh is pretty good
Very good flare resistance

Cons:
Heavy vignetting wide open (still present but less extreme stopped down to f/8)
Significant distortion at 18mm
PF is pretty heavy too at the extreme ends of the zoom range
Slowish, but that's obvious
Price, I guess

Thanks for the shots, Ben. It's always fun to seen them because I recognize the places. Some of them, like the Railyard water tower, I've taken myself.
