FA Operational Question

This might be a dumb question, but I do not (yet) own any F or FA lenses - are these lenses "fully operational" on, say a K7? I have an "A" lens and I have to set the SR focal length when putting the lens on the camera. Is this the same with the FA lenses or do they fully communicate with the camera? Thanks in advance.

The FA and F series lenses are 100% functional with the Pentax DSLR bodies, including the K-7. It will determine the proper focal length for SR and control the aperture without any issues.

Jup. They are just like DA's + extras. The only thing i don't know about is the new correction feature in k7 and later.

The only FA lenses that distortion/CA correction feature will work with are the FA limiteds (31, 43, 77). This also requires the most recent firmware for the K-7 (which I happen to know your K-7 has )

You might be interested in reading this article for further info on the fa/f series lenses: Pentax K-Mount Lenses Explained: The differences between various Pentax lens series

Essentially they're the same as da lenses, but have an aperture ring and cover the full-frame image circle.

For the FA to work like the DA lenses, they have to be set to "A" on the aperture ring like any of the A and F series lenses.
