Pin Hole

Have you seen those pin hole body caps? They take fuzzy photos that are nothing like those homemade pin hole cameras where you take an 8x10 sheet of photo paper and end up with a crystal clear negative.

I've always wondered if it mattered where the aperture was -- rather than in the lens.

So I cut a piece of black card stock with a compass point hole and fit into the 52mm threads on the front of my 50mm lens.

Want to see how much dust is on your sensor? Yep. this works.

Dust will be apparent in the white photo attached. And there's another photo attached with the aperture stopped down to f/16 just to see what it would look like.

Sadly, a rough hole in a piece of card stock doesn't look much better than those body cap pin hole lenses you can buy.
