DA 40mm f2.8 ltd

I managed to grab one of these at Amazon for $299 new. Was this a good deal? I just wanted to make sure I paid fair price and bought a good lens (tho I know it's good). A sample photo or two that would make me feel would be appreciated.

I was happy with the deal I got last spring for $40 more so I'd say yes!

Thanks Matt. holy...I don't think I can take pictures like you do...though it shows what the lens can do in good hands.

Thanks! I've taken some duds too, but I delete those!

Looks like Adorama still has it for $339 (add to your cart to see the price). I believe it's worth it!

Heck ya,

That is a great deal. I bought mine for $340 from Bhphoto.
Unfortunately, I took a spill and bent the lens into the barrel ($180 dollar fix) it is at CRIS right now.

But.....I cannot believe how much I love this lens. I have been taking photos with the kit lens and I have truly been spoiled by the da 40. Absolutely compact and wonderful, camera doesn't get in way when it is around your neck.

I am not a good photographer but the with da 40 limited I can do a pretty good job of covering that up

You didn't want to make sure you got a good deal, you just wanted to rub it in....

Enjoy your new toy when you get it and show us what it does on your camera.

I'll be purchasing my 40ltd from B&H for $340

Adorama is cheaper, but unfortunately, they only ship UPS and Fedex to Canada.... boooo

Other than that, the lenses are $500 up here.

So $300 is a great deal if you ask me!

I emailed Adorama to tell them I purchased elsewhere because of their shipping. I suggested they offer USPS to Canada to avoid the dreaded broker's fees. Their response was pretty much "Yeah, we don't use USPS".

I paid $350CA at Don's Photo for my DA 40. That was a good price in Canada.
