Bigma 50-500 vs 135-400mm

Lately, I've been thinking about getting an ultra-telephoto lens.

I've seen comparisions between the 50-500 and the 100-300, but not so much against the 135-400mm.

Has any one used both and would like to offer up pros and cons for both? Thanks!

I had the 135-400 and while it's a good value, I sold it and bought the 50-500. I like the extra reach, and I think it's a tad sharper and maybe a little better contrast/color. Also, the Bigma has a zoom lock and the 135-400 doesn't have one (but it needs it). The 135-400 is a little easier to hand hold. I like and use the wider range of the Bigma, meaning I'll occasionally take shots near or at the 50mm wide end instead of swapping out the lens. I just think it's more convenient.

All in all, I'm glad I have the Bigma, but I paid probably twice what I paid for the 135-400. The 135-400 isn't a bad lens, and only you can decide if you think the Bigma is worth the extra cash.
