lens repair

I have a "A" 35-70 macro 3.5-4.5 zoom that is in need of some repair. Mainly cleaning and a trim ring went missing. Where can I send it for a reasonable cost.

I have used him, with great results, at very decent prices.

A decent SMC-F 35-70 macro 3.5-4.5 zoom is about $50. Why would you want to send an A 35-70 macro 3.5-4.5 zoom for repair?

May be repair and shipping cost exceed a good second hand copy.

Yep..that's good reasoning..repairing is better than consuming..i totally agree with you.
and then if you repair your's maybe who needs that new copy will be able to get it
that's the right thing to do.(Cost does not need to be always the parameter to choose..)

Hey, Dudley,
Check the element packs in your lens still look OK under a strong light.
You could purchase another rough copy of your lens, tear them both apart and use all the best parts to make a good one. See my recent post on Off Brand Club with a photo of work in progress with tools needed. Just don't touch the glass and don't be tempted to clean or lube anything.

I've repaired a few lenses and cameras that I knew were going to be not quite economical. If you buy a used replacement, that may have its own issues. Plus, what, just throw it away? Rational, but wrong, somehow.
