Late reply... but what I did was set up two tripods. IIRC, I put the K20D on one tripod and set up the image you see in the photo. I then took my K100D and (again, IIRC) mounted my 50mm macro and set it up so the lens was practically touching the viewfinder. It's a little bit fuzzy and you don't get the entire screen (no LCD display at the bottom, etc) but it's enough to get an idea of how it works. I think I took a picture of the picture-taking process but it was quite a while ago.
I will add that I've played a little more with manual focusing on the K-5 and for whatever reason, I seem to be getting more keepers than with the K-7. I'm not sure why since they should be about the same... I'm guessing that maybe my particular K-5's in-focus indicator is more accurate than my K-7's. Between looking closely and the in-focus indicator, I've been doing reasonably well. If I'm on a tripod (or sometimes even not), the live-view works very well. The LensBaby especially is far more reliable to use with the LV than the viewfinder; it's just so difficult to gauge the off-center focus point otherwise.
