Pentax 12-24mm - purple flare?

Is it normal for the lens to exhibit a sort of purple flare in the region of a street light when doing long exposure at night. Most of the examples of flares I have seen are orange-like in colour but the ones that affect me are the purple ones.

It is very apparent at 100%.

If you go to my flickr page @ Flickr: k.hii's Photostream and click on the landscapes set, you'll see the the type of long exposure photography that I do.

It kind of bothers me as I trash all images with the abovementioned problem regardless.

I don't know about street lamps, but I have a 12-24mm and I know if I'm taking a picture against the sun, it's not unusual to get some flare. I think it's the nature of it's wide, wide angle that the lens take a lot of area and light in.

It bugs me a bit too, but what I do is to take a number of shots in these conditions, changing the angle of the lens slightly with each different shot.

I usually avoid the flare in most of them, then I also have more to choose from.
