Tamron 17-50 overmetering

My new Tamron 17-50 consistently overmeter when I shot snow. Did I miss something?

Thanks,
NguyenP

You mean snow ends up blown out? Odd, usually when a camera/lens is metering properly snow ends up underexposed.

Your camera will try to turn the snow to 18% grey, so your picture will be darker than it should. My personal system is to set the camera to M, point it at snow with nothing else in the viewfinder, and add two stops of exposure (slow down the shutter or open the aperture). For example, if your meter says 1/400 @ f/16, you can use 1/400 @ f/8 or 1/100 @ f/16. Look at the LCD and adjust if necessary.

Thanks. I'll try the M mode.
