I Really Like My SMC-A 135mm f2.8 (HB In Flight)

Compact and inexpensive, great for capturing hummingbirds with Catch-in focus. Built-in hood helps a lot. Shot with a K10D at f11, 1/250 Sec ISO: 100

That was one of the nicest 135s I've ever owned. Sold it in favor of the K135 f2.5 (which gets about as much use as the A135 did).. Looks like you've mastered it on your K10d. Well done!

Thank you. Mine gets constant use when that plant blooms. Did you notice much difference between the 2 lenses?

I never did a direct compare of the 135s so I really couldn't say. I just know that it was a decent low light 135, even wide open.

Isn't this the same optical design as the oft-maligned (and likely unfairly) takumar bayonet?

Hardly. They aren't even the same size.
