did you replace it with a steel mount or the original plastic mount? Can you post the part #?

thank you so much. I wonder if we can order the steel mount and put it on our DA L lens. Do you possibly have that too?

Hiya

Can I ask how long you had the lens before it needed repairing? Just bought one with the same mount and whilst I may not have that problem it's good to be forewarned.

Thanks

B

Hmmmm.... I was thinking of taking the plunge on one of these, but I definitely don't want the plastic mount version. Is the steel mount version typically more expensive?

Why not? For all I know (as he/she did not come back on the question I asked) the OP used camera and lens as a hammer to nail some 10" nails in a solid oak barn door .

And yes, the metal mount is more expensive, but also comes with lens hood (I've heard that the original Pentax is about $50), quick shift, and distance scale on the focus ring.

On the other hand, since the replacement mount is under $7, if it ever did wear out, it would be no biggie to replace.

actually the mount is just same..

just replace the mount with any metal mount from other DA series if you have..or with FA/A lens..but noted that DA lens have extra contact for exif information..

it is very easy to disassemble..

i just curious, how the mount can be broken? did you hit the lens on something while mounting it on camera? or did you drop the lens? even it is plastic made, it is quite hard to be broken except it already cracked while in production..

I broke the plastic mount while on a cruise excursion in Jamaica. The truth is, I had the lens mounted on the camera body in my Lowepro slingshot while I was on a horseback ride. But then I fell and landed on my back/side. Ouch! I didn't even know the plastic mount broke until I got back on the cruise. Even though the mount is plastic, I don't think it can break easily unless you suffer the same fate as I. After the replacement, the lens is now good as new.

Indeed ouch. And shit happens. Hope you're further OK and that it did not spoil the trip.

And to moo1971 and GibbyTheMole
Does not sound like there is a need to doubt the quality of the plastic mount.

Yeah, after doing some research it looks like the plastic mount really isn't anything to worry about. I'll probably wind up picking one of these up. - Bob :-)

@Respectedent
I have exactly the same configuration as you do and had a much similar problem with the 55-300.
Can you possibly send me a link or the contact you used at Pentax so I can get mine fixed?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if we can use the Metal mount instead of the plastic mount on the DA-L lens? If yes, will I need to order any parts other than 48000.M10801 ?
