Hmmm... Why do people love the FA43 so much and there seems to be little love for the DA*55 given its faster speed, weather sealing and (cough) HSM?

I can not answer that, but I do know for a fact that the DA*55 ranks very high on my lens next purchase list.

Also its diagonal FOV is 8 degrees narrower than the 43 and 8 degrees wider than the 77, making it the perfect fit between the 43 and 77. I want a WR 43 or 77, the answer is DA*55

It was easy because I'm somewhat familiar with the 28mm focal length. I don't shoot with one regularly, but I do know how it affects perspective.

I'll go next:

Used flash, essentially straight from RAW.

seems like a telezoom. A Tamron 70-300, or the Pentax 50-200? wideopen perhaps?

It's a K28shift. I had to shift almost max upward to get the perspective correct. It has typical K-lens CA/PF between highlight and dark. Sweet spot at f8 or f11.

Regarding your photo,
Looks like popup flash in relatively long distance to subject. I don't know which plant and left size, but guess, it's a 100mm or longer or a zoom, to have the bokeh like this. Color is quite monotone, so I can't see any typical color rending.

I don't think it's as long as other guys call so I'll stick with 50/1.4

re: shift shot,

I thought it was a wide ish shift lens and K28 crossed my mind, but I didn't want to make a fool of myself...

Hint: It's a long prime.
The flash was a shoemount flash.

I guess it is 200mm, one of the common long prime. Longer it would be point less to use flash. ~100mm would have some less bokeh, but also depends on distances. It can also be from a 135, I won't call 135 long. It would be easier if the photo contains some real life man-made subject.

Would you give a hint about distance to subject?

It's just a game.
The K28shift has almost no distortion and distinct perspective when shifted more than 3-4 clicks.
Any more photo of the baby?

Understandable:
Distance to subject is very close, if not at minimum focus. The minimum focus on this lens is not what I call close, either.
It is an M42 mount lens.

A Zeiss Jena 135mm? But the pic is not very sharp, so I am confused?

Nope, it's a 200mm.

Here's another example: this was definitely close to or at the minimum focusing distance.
