One of the old Zeiss's like Ultron 50/1.8 (which I am aching to convert from the bayonet mount).

Actually no, I think Ultron has 5 blades and the bokeh here is hexagonal. Probably Pancolar 50/1.8 or Pentacon 50/1.8.
We have a winner ! Well done Daniel almost there so I'll put everyone out of their misery !

I didn't realise this would be a difficult one, Voigtlander Colour Ultron 50/1.8 converted to PK mount with infinity - I love this lens !

Or maybe a Rikenon?
There is no 1.8 Rikenon. All Ricoh 50's are 1.4, 1.7, 1.9, 2.0 and 2.2.

I don't feel like I got it, I mentioned Ultron which is different from Color-Ultron (although I thought of Color-Ultron I didn't mentione it because I haven't seen people using them here much). Interesting to see a pretty good sample from it!

Anyway if people are still keen, here's another lens:

That's OK you were almost there and I felt it had gone on long enough ! At least the Zeiss and Voigtlander now come from the same Cosina factory in Japan.

My guess : SMC F 50mm f1.7

Must be longer than 50, but not by much. Leica 60/2.8?

Hmmm... it's really hard to guess a lens isn't it? There is one guess that's kind of close.

Hint 1: it's MF.
Hint 2: here are two more pics wide open I just took now:

Bingo!

(when you say it's the same optical solution, it is a much bigger lens, so is that all about the extra half a stop?)

From Dimintrov:

A*85/1.4

There are some minor differences, but they are really small. Speed = heavy glass. I think the designer was not happy with the A*85 wide open, so they though that giving up f1.4 to get a smaller size (and much faster AF than would ever have been possible with all the glass in the A*) was a good bargain.

But on ehave to love the A*85.
