Gents,
right spot on! I can only add that the full name is MC Helios 44-4 by KMZ.

Ok, here goes another one:

One image (the faded one) is ist DS jpg preview from it's PEF product and the other (the one with more contrast) is made from PDCU -> tiff -> DxO -> jpg conversion chain. In either way all settings were zeroed to defaults.

axl,
that's the 3rd party lens. It goes with both european and japanese roots in its design and background.

This one too is difficult ;-)
I don't have many 3rd party lenses in past or present.

Also I have a request for this thread:
If possible, could you post the photos that can display typical characteristic(s) of a lens. May be several photos of different scenes that can bring the uniqueness.
No post processing to give a hint of original rending/sharpness. Since it is a guess-lens game, I also request for camera body type, flash setting if any, filter if any, tele-converter/tubes if any.

Hey, any hint will help - it's not a good feeling to get stuck ;-)

My first guess was adapted Minolta MD Rokkor lens but thay are Japanesse AFAIK, but with both EU and JAP roots? Samsung/Schneider? Or perhaps some adapted Cosina Contax? Just guessing here, any more hints?

Strike Samsung off, they are Korean but hang on, isn't Cosina manufactoring Voigtlander lenses? In which case Ultron 40/2 pops into mind...

hoanpham,
that shot was taken with ist DS, no flash or teleconverter used. Both in-cam jpg as well as PEF processed are provided just in case.

axl,
Samsung/Schneider can not be counted since these babies are nothing more but re-badged Pentax products. They do not have any international roots in design (but have'em in background if badge is considered to be the part of one).

Ok, here's a hint: when guessing the european roots of this lens you only think about Germany - and this is wrong. There were some other countries that were developing and manufacturing photographic lens, though in this particular case they (it) no longer do. That company that represents those EU roots is still in business, but long time ago was acquired by very large corporation (just like Pentax went to Hoya) and now goes on with optics for cinema, science and military markets.
The 2nd hint: this lens came with factory PK-AF mount and no adapter was used nor this lens was adapter or modded in any way.
The 3rd hint: I believe you'll come up with some certain guess very shortly (and I think it gonna be very close to the right answer), but this particular lens isn't that famous or relatively well-known as ones that come to your mind after those two hints above.

Zig

Congratulations on the new arrival.

But I note the glass in the picture is empty. just remind me not to go out celebrating (wetting the babies head) with you.

BTW I didn't have a clue about the lens used.

Gents,
Agreed, this was a tough one. Ok, rabbit's out:

the lens: Tokina AT-X AF270
the EU roots: Angenieux, France
the corporation: Thales
the famous and/or relatively well-known brothers and sisters: Angenieux and Tokina AT-X 28-70/2.6-2.8, Tokina AT-X 270PRO, Tokina AT-X 270SV, Tokina AT-X 280PRO

That shot was taken at 70/3.2 setting in a point-and-shoot way - to be honest I was really surprised it turned out any good at all, I had no time for scene adjustments nor any other stuff to twist and set.

Zig

P.S.
I'd say that if it were some Voigtlander the colors would be more punchy.
