That because I am not strong enough to bring this lens into my door if I buy it, and if I somehow got it delivered, I may not be strong enough to bring it out ;-)
Actually it's only 4.8kg (or 10.6 pounds for you)

Say, there is no review of this lens in our database. Maybe feverbeaver would like to write one?

Apparently I can't type a post with all caps (F and A) so I have to add some lower case letters...

woah, assuming you shot this while you are seated, it must've been a 43/50/55.

I cropped the picture slightly on the left and a bit less on top. And the FL is pretty wrong so far (yes shot sitting down).

Myself, I find it hard to guess in most situations. I will shoot a pic of our street tomorrow. Thjat might give a better clue.

Dan,
is it some sun-light on the woman's shoulders or you shot her with a flash?

My bet goes for plastic-fantastic 35/2.4 or DA40

I agree with Zig.
35 or 40 seems more likely than 50ish, but since cropped it could even be 30... Like Sigma 30/1.4

Well this thread is proving to me that it is generally impossible to guess the lens and even the FL without special clues.

Here are some clues hopefully.

The first one is shot with one knee on the ground, the low fence in the foreground being about 2-3 meters away from me.

The second is at minimum focusing distance.

The third is simply standing on the ground looking up. All just outside my home. No PP - just straight-forward development in ACR (no sharpening either). And now back to marking exams....

Last clue- this lens is in listed in About Me.

PS No flash on the woman on the train! And not 30mm - I wouldn't dare to point the camera in someone's face like this, even when that person is sleeping. We are private creatures here down-under and my wife has actually told me to pull that woman's pic off the internet (she didn't give her consent, so I will do - tomorrow).

PPS Although maybe the guessed lenses have something in common with the actual lens in question (rendition?), on the face of it, they are all completely off.

Dan,
I picked 35/2.4 and DA40 for the following reasons:
- it should be a bit fast lens
- it shouldn't be a big lens (i.e. you'd wake that woman up with some big black 70-200/2.8 by just simply pointing that can at her)

Last three shots tell me that it should be a stop or two faster then 2.8, so...

I'm not that good at lens renderings - yep, rookie - but keeping up the idea that it should be something not-that-big (and yes, having a look at your profile) I'd go with Tak50/1.4 or A85/1.4
The 1st shot - of those last three ones - goes for Takumar (as well as dnd hint re that woman in the train), but the last one goes for 85/1.4

I'd also say DA77 - which is in the middle between Tak and the Star in terms of focal range and fits my small-lens-theory - but Zoom-zoom already failed with that.

Dan,
Are pics 1. And 2 from last series wide open?

And yes I agree that without clues (focusing distance, f stop) and with cropping it's near impossible to guess specific lens unless it displays some specific rendering characteristic...

Anyway,
What do we know:
You wouldn't point lens at someone's face, so I assume it's a hip/waist shot, which would suggest wider lens.
The shot at MFD lacks in terms of distortion and has quite some DOF which suggest f2.8 or slower.
The shot with the wall throws some stuff OOF but again displays hige DOF (especialy at the indicated distance) and 3rd shot suggest some reach...
Now, I know where my guess is heading but I have a few important questins before:
Is it zoom?
Is it SMC lens?

hi axl

it's an smc lens and not a zoom. first shot in the last series is at f4 I think. the second may be wide open.

hi zig

what you say is very sensible but unfortunately still wide of the mark.

feverbeaver, it's not any of the lenses mentioned yet. I might try to reproduce these street snaps with them just to see the difference.

A pretty common lens this time, at least judging from the number of reviews here - heaps!
This clue, the street and the flower helped me.
