30/2.8 is very sharp. So I would second, sorry third, this.

Well, it is the only f2.8 Pentax K mount lens in this rough (28-35mm) focal range that can be described as difficult to find. M40/2.8 are everywhere.

OK, here's one from me. This is going to be a tricky one, but I will give clues once the focal length is guessed (close enough):

PS Just unpacked this lens and shot the mug standing at the edge of my desk at work (sorry maybe more interesting pics tomorrow!)

DA21/3.2?
Seems fairly wide with touch of barrel distortion and fairly deep DOF

OK, very close to the FL, axl! Impressive.

Here's another pic I managed to sneak in (as well as a grudging consent to posting it here):

Judging by the distortion on the wide end I'd have to say that that's the DA* 16-50

Here I am trying to shoot a similar pic with the DA*16-50 at home (at night). One thing I notice is the shallower depth of field on the "mystery" lens.

In other words, no it's not the 16-50. Especially the portrait, my 16-50 portraits didn't look like this.

I'd say it's between 20-24mm if it's prime. And f stop around f4 or there abouts. Correct?

FL is close, aperture is faster.

crop from the portrait:

Hint: It is not a Pentax lens (just thought it might be interesting for folks to see what these lenses do) but adapted to Pentax.

PS The earlier comment was misleading - sorry. Meant to be "just took it out of the box, adapted it and shot the mug on my desk."

My final guess for this lens (and then I'll leave it to others): Sigma 20mm f1.8

aah, I just saw that he had to adapt it to K mount. so probably an M42 or an adaptall, either way that brings this contest beyond the scope of my knowledge.

Is it MF or AF?
---
Disregard that silly question. If it's adapted, it must be MF.
Now a lot depends on how dificult the adapting was. If it was dificult one including mount swap, we might talk Zeiss or Leica here. If it's medium one involving dremel and some shaving then it might even be Nikkor, if it's M42... Oh well, many possibilities, but I'd guess either Zeiss 18/3.5 or Mir 20/3.5

This is more distorsion than my Sigma 20/1.8 I dare say.

Elmarit 19/2.8, Leitax conversion.

I realise we have started a whole new theme here. If you like to I can rename the thread "guess the mug club"?

Here is next lens, sorry mug...

Edit: This was a joke, OK? Don't start guessing on this one.
