Well, it's fast and very sharp in the centre with a reasonable bokeh. A pretty good lens!

Yeah its very sharp in center, even sharper in the center than the FA43! But sharpness isnt everything, what I like most about the lens is the way it isolates subjects.

We were sitting down at a table having lunch so would have been maybe less than a meter. And that shot was f/1.8.

choose the FA31 because it is so wide and smooth. I thought I saw some onion rings there but dismissed it since I wasn't sure because the image is so small. I didn't think it was an FA43 because of the smooth bokeh transition although I think it was some sort of an f1.2 (not necessarily Pentax because it doesn't look to be and lacks the certain artsy bokeh, but still a bit hesitant to be an f1.2). finally I said Sigma 85 because of the overall rendering that the lens produces, although I got the focal length wrong here but the rendering looks like a typical fast Sigma. again the center resolution made it difficult to distinguish the lens, also hesitant about the 85mm.

Thought I'd kick-start this thread again.

A common and well-regarded lens this time:
