Will Pentax Canada ever ship the DA 18-135mm WR?

This is perhaps not such much a question as a cry of frustration.

My advice is order it from the states. There is no import duty on slr lenses (but you'll pay provincial tax). Just be sure to use USPS, not FEDEX or UPS as they charge obscene 'customs brokerage fees'. I bought my k-7 from the states, and Pentax Canada told me if there is a warranty claim, I'd need to pay 25.00 processing since it was bought out of country. I imagine a similar warranty fee might exist for the lens, but you should ask them directly. In the end I saved about 500.00 CAD on the body and have had no warranty issues thus far, so it was well worth it, although Pentax Canada prices are more in line with the states right now, so the savings might be less dramatic.

Have you tried McBain camera in Edmonton? They have been Pentax dealer for many years and $10 for shipping under $1,000. Vistek in Toronto is another good one but I don't see them listing the 18-135. They both offer great services. B&H in NY list the lens $100 less than McBain, and if you pick the ground shipping you will save more than buying it in Canada. Just make sure your credit card company charge a reasonable exchange rate. I never have problem with photo gear that was brought outside Canada, so I don't about warranty.

I bought mine from Prodigital2000 on eBay, a few weeks ago. Less expensive than McBain. I believe it was $525 after taxes, shipping, and 7 year warranty

Prodigital is having a hard getting stock from Pentax, I've been waiting a month now for my DA*60-250 (they have "buy now" auctions for stuff they do not have in stock).

I've been patiently waiting as I haven't seen it at the price I paid in any store (besides seems almost nobody has any in stock).

I just played with one at my local Henry's...it was sitting on the shelf with the rest of the homeless pentax lenses

Finally Shipped

Pentax Canada finally shipped the lens to Newfoundland Camera Imaging. I picked it up on January 23rd.

Still no reply from Pentax Canada to my e-mail I sent a few weeks ago. I suppose they prefer to let the retailers handle questions about availability.

As far as I know, Pentax Canada has *never* replied to an email they did not request in the first place.

I did get a reply when I emailed the Pentax sales rep for my region directly, however.
