60-250mm Pentax Lens

I just received a new 60-250mm lens for my K5.. I am concerned that it will not autofocus at all.. there is a switch on the side but does nothing.. there is no manual with the lens either.. I assume there should have been a manual with it.
I am hoping I am overlooking something.. but afraid it may be defective..
Any ideas???

Moved to the lens section. Make sure all switches are set to AF.

And if that doesn't work, you could try cleaning the SDM contacts on both the lens and body.

I did that.. tried everything I know.. including trying the lens on myK5, my K10 and my K20..
I am wondering if the switch on the lens is defective.. it doesn't have a very good feel to it as I switch it back and forth
Do you know if a manual was supposed to come with that lens??

What would I clean that with?
The lens is right out of the box but I suppose some film of some sort could be on the contacts.. I'll try that.. would you suggest rubbing alcohol on a swab?

Normally, the lens does come with the manual (and also front/rear caps, soft case, and hood). Where did get get it from?

I'd use a Q-tip or something similar. I would think rubbing alcohol should be fine to use, although I have to caveat that by letting you know I've never actually had to clean my contacts.

OK.. tried the Q tip cleaning.. but no go.. it must be defective. I sure don't like having something defective from Pentax but I guess it happens. I appreciate your help.

This is curious. Was the box damaged? Any accessories missing? Dust or marks on the lens? Who was the seller - Amazon itself, or a third-party?

I would definitely return it asap. No manual and no AF does not sound like it is new.

I have one DA* 50-135mm with SDM dead out of the box. I don't think it is Amazon's fault.
