SMC 24/3.5 vs. SMC 24/2.8

I have a confession... I am in love with my 35/3.5. Damn, the pictures it makes are dark but so REAL. Now, the twist; I want to date the 35's sister, the 24mm. I have heard good things about the 24/3.5, but I have an opportunity to buy the 24/2.8 , which I have read nothing about. Which is better ? I would love that extra brightness of the F/2.8, but not at the expense of the smooth 3D effect I have experienced with the 35mm, which I have read the 24mm F/3.5 also has. Opinions ?

Check our our lens database: the F2.8 version seems to have a lot more reviews and also scores an 8.7, while the F3.5 version scores a 7.75.

From what I have heard of other's experiances, the 24/2.8 is supposed to be the better lens all around. Go for it!

I have both the K24/2.8 and the K24/3.5. I rated them both a nine, but if I had to choose one I would pick the K24/3.5 overall. It’s more of a personal preference with these two 24mm lenses, both are good but they have very different characteristics. The K24/3.5 will be harder to find though.

Ummm. I can only fit the M42. U guys are talking about the K version. I understand the K and A versions are sometimes different from the M42 screw mounts. I don't have a Pentax. Is the M42 in 2.8 still going to be better than the F/3.5 ?

There is only a K&A version of the 24/2.8. The only 24mm Takumar is the 24/3.5.
