I only paid $75 for my Takumar 400 5.6 about a year ago, but that was before the Tak boom.

Fully manual, a bazooka, and like everything at 400, you gotta sit her on a tripod.
that crap boom so bad, i was watching a f/1.4 50mm on ebay, started off at 1 dollar, just 1 hour before it end, the thing sky rocket to 200 bucks... I'm like "omg, these people are crazy" lol, Good for the seller though.

Thanks :-) I would have assumed that the Sigma TCs fit and that was part of the plan. Found that HSM II listed for 650 new so that got me wondering; that sort of thing would seem useful as such in low light (indoor sports and such) and might not be a total disaster with the TC, at least as far as effective aperture goes :-)
The Sigma TCs are optically very very good. They were designed specifically for a limited range of very long very fast lenses.

The TCs have a protruding front element that requires a recess in the rear of the les about 35mm in diameter and 12 mm deep. They only fit on lenses like the 70-200 F2.8, the 300 F2.8 etc, and not on any of the consumer lenses. I do not know when sigma will come out with an HSM TC and that is certainly hurting their sales. I find the old 70-200 and the use of TCs great because when you don;t need the focal length, you have extra speed.

There are some good images posted with this combo

here are a couple of mine both with the K10D
this is a full frame only resized to post shot the first week I had the 2x TC

this is about 10% of the frame of a shot taken with the 2x TC and ISO 1600

Thank you all for the great input, I'm really like the prime, but all this good advice I will search the galleries and compare. Looking for something in the 500-800 dollar range.
