Sigma 85mm/1.4 - experience wanted

I have been looking in this thread
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/114807-test-sa...-85-1-4-a.html

Lovely rending, and about to get one - within this weekend if possible.
Anyone own this piece?

The Sigma 85mm F1.4 isn't available for k-mount yet, so I doubt you'd be able to get your hands on one by this weekend. The B&H website says "approx arrival February", but then again, it was saying "approx arrival November" for a while before that.

It's true. Est arrival at 1st Feb. I have a local dealer that opens for pre-order for K mount this weekend. At first it seems like a regular order. They do have many copies for canon and nikon.

Bokeh and low light, this lens attracts me more than the K5 (LBA again!)

The Sigma is apparently a very fine lens, but for low light work I'd recommend the K-5 over the Sigma

Better yet, I'd recommend the K-5 AND Sigma 85/1.4

Thanks. A bit pricy even used. My LBA rush had calm down a bit ;-)
I m just thinking about the DA*50-135, but it is just too big for party events.

Just go read the reviews for the FA* 85/1.4 SMC Pentax-FA* 85mm F1.4 [IF] Lens Reviews - Pentax Lens Reviews & Pentax Lens Database

You're LBA will come back in a rush.

Just got an email from B&H, looks like they're starting to take pre-orders for this lens in K-mount:

QuoteQuote:
You've previously requested to be notified when the following item comes in to stock:
Sigma - SI8514P (USA)
85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM Lens For Pentax Digital SLR Cameras

This item did not come in to stock yet, However, we are now accepting pre-orders and the item will be shipped when it comes in to stock

Just saw too that this was available for pre-order now. Have been watching for this lens for some time now!

Just wondering though for the money...this lens or the Pentax FA 77mm f/1.8?

for someone who is on the budget, the 77 would be a great deal. I have seen some go for $650 on average in the used market. although there are some sellers that sell the Sigma for $800 which makes it a bit more competitive or at the same price range as that of a new 77mm.

perhaps the things to consider on both lenses are:

FA77
1.> small, compact and light
2> 77mm wide

Sigma 85
1.> f1.4 aperture
2.> HSM
