DA 17-70mm f/4 AL (IF) SDM wobble

My DA 17-70mm performs quite a remarkable wobbling both extended and retracted, something around 1mm excursion in all directions perpendicular to the lens axis. The effect was there still from the beginning, when I bought it 20 months ago, but it was less noticeable. I've seen a new DA 17-70mm today in the shop, and it wobbled even more than mine in the start. Now that the effect has slightly increased, I'm starting to wonder if this "degenerative process" will go on, and which effect it may have on IQ. So far I can't tell any change, but maybe I'm not much of an observer.
Has anybody experienced this problem and can give me an opinion?
Thanks all!

PS: besides that, the lens is great!

Mine has always wobbled a bit. I don't feel that it's increased with age. I've had it almost 2 years and have used it extensively. Agreed it's a great lens.

I bought my DA 17-70 used here a few months ago. It wobbles a little, but has not gotten worse, from what I can tell. It continues to perform well and seems like a real good lens.

My DA16-45 wobbled somewhat. I did some tests on a tripod and found that it did affect the image (the best image was when I was pressing on the lens). Eventually I send it in and they told me there was some broken part inside, but it still wobbles a bit... probably about a mm in each direction. I think this is just a downside of "moving parts" which almost all lenses have, especially zooms. But if you are getting good pictures, it might be best not to think about it
