and here are the previous composites with added crops from the K50 from the same spot as 31 ltd (with white f stop numbers) so order is L-R 31 ltd, 50 the same magnification distance and 50 original (same perspective distance). The crops from the original position of K50 were resized from original height of 988 pix (=100% crop) to 570 pix to match the strips

again, many thanks to you Peter.

btw, was the FA31 shot at MFD? or the 50/1.2 at MFD? or both at MFD?

but anyways, the added photos are really impressive. I think I might just set my sights on other prospect buys.

LoL, sorry if I pushed your LBA button but you know what, this lens is worth to have (IMO). I'm just fighting myself whether to sell my K and 43 to upgrade to A50/1.2... but ain't sure...

as for the distance, none were on MFD, although K50 in original position was close to it, I believe it was somewhere around 55-60cm camera to smurf, the MFD for K50 is 45cm and 30 for 31 I believe....

Agreed. I like the ones from FA31 better.

Yes, the 50/1.2 can make blurrier background, but the results from FA31 have more 3D look, and they are definitely more contrasty.

I've had quite some experiences with both lenses, to me I just like the FA31 better.

I look at the positives from both lenses. The A50 mm f/1.2 clearly has the best potential to produce that dreamy bokeh look of pretty much every other Pentax lens out there. Meanwhile, the FA31 just has unreal bokeh for a wide angle. I'm not sure if I've seen bokeh from a wide angle from any brand that I like better.

For anyone who might be interested, I just posted some additional A50/1.2 vs FA31/1.8 test shots here.
