Pentax hevyweights shootout - par II FA*24 vs 31ltd

So,
here is part II of my line up shootout.
I used the same settings and scene as in part I, just adjusted the shutter speed since it got bit darker (-1 stop)
This time I only took shots with trying to match the magnification.

Here we go:

IMGP5976

IMGP5977

IMGP5978

IMGP5981

IMGP5980

and crops composites:

thanks again Peter. with the kind of DOF the 24/2 displays, I don't think it would work out well for portraits and one would be contented using a DA21 and any other zoom lens at that focal range instead. however, the 1/3 stop to 2 stop advantage over the other lenses makes it a bit more flexible on very demanding occasions.

well, this depends on occasion... there are moments where the FA* gets the pop of faster lens. I'd say a lot depends on focusing, if you manage to focus the lens almost at the border of front focusing then it's achievable, but yes, in general terms, it's DOF is not as shallow as I'd like....especially for portraits...
oh well

Oh, and here is one of the occasions I meant:

Top stuff Peter.
Another good comparison thread - thanks for that.
The bokeh again is the most striking difference IMO - the 31 being significantly smoother and more pleasant.
