Vivitar S1 70-210mm (v3) help with aperture...

Hello,

I'm looking for a bit of help with my 70-210 (v3).

The blades do not close all the way to f22. They stop somewhere between f16 and f11.

I've opened it up, and tried to adjust what I thought was the spring that controls the tension, but I don't think I got the right one.

I'm wondering if anybody here could help me that may have had similar issues or is experienced with this lens.

The blades are clean - and the lens is in fantastic condition - except for the aperture.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like you have sticky diaphragm, if you could remove the glass elements and get to the aperture blades try applying liberal amount of lighter fluid to the blades and let it drain/evaporate while working the aperture blades. I don't have this lens but lighter fluid worked wonders with CZJ 180/2.8. I repeated the process of applying lighter fluid to the blades and letting them dry three times before I thought the blades moved as they should.

Hope this helps,

Definitely worth a try. Thank you for the suggestion. I was hoping that it would have to do with springs. Only because I am able to access two springs without having to dismantle the entire lens.

If I'm fortunate, somebody with knowledge of this lens will chime in with some steps.
