Pentax DA 16-45mm f/4.0 Lens for Harper's BAZAAR

I just wanted to share with you my impressions regarding the use of the Pentax DA 16-45 f/4.0 Lens in lieu of the DA*16-50 f/2.8 lens that died prior to my commencing my shoot for Harper's BAZAAR last week.

As you know the DA* died during the Harper's BAZAAR en Español shoot, thus did not have it for my Harper's BAZAAR Haute Couture shoot last week. The DA 16-45 is an incredible lens at any price. It was spot on for focusing and was very capable qualitatively for the size of the reproduction of the magazine. Here is a sample...

All shot with the DA 16-45 f/4.0 lens and the Pentax K20D's

I'm sure any lens in your hands would work just fine, Ben.
Good example of what the 16-45 can do...

I'm waiting to see some of Ben's pictures from a shoot in the kit-lens club.

We felt your pain on having your DA*16-50 go down at exactly the wrong moment. I have no doubt that an experienced pro like you would be able to get the best results from any lens. This gives a great deal of credence to the fact that the person behind the camera counts a lot more than the technology in the camera.

Well done and brilliant shot.

You'll just have to wait. I shouldn't have even posted this one.

This photo shoot will be a 14 page spread.

That's a great shot. Just curiously, how does it compare to the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8?

Don't know the Tamron, but I do know that the Pentax 16-45 outperformed my Canon 17-40 when I was using Canon.

Pretty cool to see what you can do with a lens that regularly sells around here for $200-$250...

Or will the price go up now?

The Pentax 16-45 is really a great lens and it doesn't get enough credit for it's abilities. I picked mine up for about $210. It's just a matter of knowing it's strength and weaknesses :-D
