Have you seen a Pentax SMC-M 135/2.8?

At a 'Photorama' show last weekend I saw and almost bought a Pentax SMC-M 135/2.8. I ended up leaving it because I find I prefer the convenience of 'A' or later models.

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out at the review section here and Bojidar's page.

It's not listed in either place.

Did I stumble across a rarity?

The obvious question is whether my eyesight is defective and what I really saw was f/3.5, not f/2.8. Even though I took some pix with it using my K10D, I can't prove it because, well, it was an 'M' and as we know, aperture reading is not recorded.

Have you seen a Pentax SMC-M 135/2.8?

TIA!/Scottax1

I have a manual Penatx SMC 135mm f2.5 which is a nice lens, particularly on a K10D with that "sweet spot" advantage. I don't know of a f2.8 version. The f2.5 is reviewed on Photozone.

Take Care

I know where there's a used 1 available, although in this case I'm more interested in the f3.5.
I'd very rarely if ever want a fast lens in that size, and the price difference is just too much

That plus I don't buy any lenses without reading a review after being slightly disappointed once.

For the K mount 135/2.8, there were only A & FA that I am aware of.

You sure it wasn't a f2.5 or the non-SMC Takumar f2.8 version?

Pentax never made an M 135 f/2.8.
They made the 135 f/2.5 & M 135 f/3.5 (not equipped with "A" function) and the A 135 f/2.8

That's what I thought. I'm corresponding with the dealer to clarify.

The K105 2.8 looks superficially exactly like the M135 3.5 - same size (virtually), same appearance. Maybe he just misread it. The 105 is a rarity (and works well).
