I dont have the FA77 but I do have the DA70 and the 50-135 and I can tell you that even the DA70 beats the 50-135 at 70mm. I would have sold the DA70 long ago otherwise.

I don't doubt it, the 70mm is one of the sharper DA Limiteds. The 50-135mm is right for me at this time. =)

For a prize at a contest?

FA77, hands down.

I sleep with it at night.
We cuddle.
We laugh together.

The FA77 and I are truly a happy couple. You will too.

50-135 for sure.

FA 77 renders amazing on film, but I just don't like being limited to that focal length on digital. 50-135 lets me get closer when I need to, (and further when I need to), and it actually is prime-quality as far as IQ goes.

I'm talking about portrait use here... that's all I would really use either lens for.

Da*50-135

.....better contrast, better and much more precise focusing, more universal lens, IQ moreless the same. I like both lenses but decided to keep zoom and let 77 limited go.

really tough choice...I had both but sold 50-135 in the end...77 is perfect match with K-X for stealthy street photography

If I wanted to shoot at, say 135mm or 50mm, I'd choose the zoom. If I knew I wanted around 70-ish, I'd choose the prime. Ultimately, if I'm choosing a short-tele prime, I'm going for the DA70 because it's so small.
