I understand that this lens has been discontinued Does anyone know anywhere that may have some leftover stock?

Thanks in advance.

Odd, I just searched yesterday. Well thanks...I'll go check it out.

Edit: I see why now as it was only posted today but thanks for the heads up. In the meantime, I'd still like to know if this can be purchased anywhere since it seems that two others already have dibs on the one in the marketplace.

My biggest regret in my short life as a SLR user was not buying this lens when Amazon had them for $700 something dollars. Makes me sigh. It is a truly amazing lens. Good luck with your quest to find one.

One of my fondest memories is of buying the last new one Amazon had. There was a rumor of it being discontinued in Pentax mount and I didn't want to miss out on this jewel. Later acquisition of the 1.4 TC has me satisfied for long-range, probably forever.

Don't worry, Sigma's got something new on the horizon...

Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG OS APO product page

Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX GD OS APO announcement

It will be in Pentax mount, but I don't know when it will be released for that mount. Better start saving up for it, I know I will (MSRP is $4,700).

due to it's status as being discontinued for the K-mount, I'd say just get it for the Canon mount cheap and use a 60D or 7D for it. if you like FF, a used 5D would certainly fit in just as well. due to the 100-300 lens (K-mount) scarcity and going price nowadays in the used market, you are better off with it on a different camera mount.

it is sad that discontinuing this lens for the K-mount certainly is a big losss for Pentax users.

Sigma 100-300

jsherman999 - I've been around for a few years noew just normally read and hardly ever post. I must missed that part in the agreement when I registered!! Nice pics by the way!!

Hawaiianonline - looks like that will be awesome but way out of the range I'm willing to pay for a lens; unless that was an offer to help pay

Pentaxor - I've debated this since I don't have much invested in Pentax but I like Pentax cameras for a variety of reasons. One of them (I must admit) is being the underdog. Although my reason for wanting the lens is primarily for motorcycle racing so it may be better to with a different mount.

I'm sure you are not alone. I for example have considered factors for staying with Pentax and also considered getting other camera options. among those are the Full-frame concerns, AF speed and lens availability. as far as FF and AF speed, Nikon D700 seems to get my vote followed by the Sigma SD1 primarily for pseudo-MF resolution capability. the Canon 7D would be the 3rd choice. now these cameras have the lenses that I want to use that are unavailable for the K-mount as of the moment or never will, particularly the 3 Sigmas, 85, 150, and 100-300.
