A Moment's Sunlight.....

We are but a moment's sunlight fading in the grass.......

I had that song stuck in my head so decided I had to try to capture it.

Ooooo. That's Cladonia rangiferina, I believe. Reindeer lichen. I think I'd like to be the lichen in the fading sunlight. . . .

Except . . . while they're part light-capturing algae, lichens can not use light-capturing devices known as cameras. This presents a dilemma. . . .

Nice photo, by the way!

Ash borer bokeh

This is a 6 foot stump from our beautiful ash tree which has been lost to the Emerald Green Ash borer, and northern Ohio is rapidly losing all of these native trees.

KIT: 645Z with Pentax 67 165mm f 4.0 LS (used here with camera's focal plane shutter).

Well done! This lens (Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f2 SL II) used to be on my wishlist some time ago. LBA calling my name once again :-)

thank you - I believe that I am only scratching the surface of this little lens...

so few lenses have pixie dust, but this one has bags and bags of it....

hopefully, within a week or so, I'll get to try out the Nokton 58/1.4 also....

Thanks! There are all sorts of great photography quotes out there--and way more quotes of other sorts--but that Wynn Bullock quote is one I especially like. Partly, I'm sure, because I love his work, and I suppose he's my favorite photographer (even if Caponigro's "Running White Deer" is my favorite photograph).

That's good to know about Acadia and Cladonia. Sometimes I say that lichens are the highest form of life on the planet; I'm not sure I don't believe that. They're definitely photogenic, and best captured blurring into bokeh, I think--even if those photos don't find their way into lichen field guides and such.

The Apostle Islands, off Wisconsin's northern coast in Lake Superior, have a wide variety of lichens. I haven't been there yet, but one day I should get there.

One day. . . .
