I think my brain short-circuited and I started blinking uncontrollably - could not compute (or maybe a natural defense mechanism against such complexities). Hopefully my morning coffee will straighten me out...

What broken lens created this? I must know so I can avoid it

For a second I had to think, if there was any way some unknown substance had made it into my coffee this morning....
Aye this was "Special Lady” Pentax-A 50mm F1.2 on a K1...

She was complaining about way too much light... she couldn't even get her herself wide open, shot @ 1/8000s F/1.4 ISO 100.

There was a little help with luminosity masking in PS... to get this final nervous image.

I wouldn't count on it... Red Pill or Blue Pill?

+ 1 or more on that set. The last image stopped me instantly in my scan down this page.
Thank you both!

Ahhh... so such "help" turned the best bokeh lens ever into... I don't even know

It would be interesting to see the shape of the iris at f/1.4. Obviously I can't do that with my K 50 1.2... or can I? I just got my K 50 1.2 in my hands and I see that I can actually leave the aperture between wide open and the first stop (which should be around f1.7 or f1.8 since it shoudl be a full stop from f1.2) - but the shape of the iris looks exactly like it does at the first stop (only wider). I'm not sure what shape you get with your A version... so I'lll assume that this bokeh was basically all PP generated?

...and you did scare me for a second, as I think you might have found a long lost weird Soligor or something

Here's the original untreated and unloved image... as the before and then the second, as the after PP assisted and loved.

I guess that the shape on the A lens will be slightly more round as it has nine blades as opposed the the Ks eight blades.

I'll let you be the judge on that.

You'll be pleased to know that no other lenses were maimed or castrated in the making of these images.
