Here is one with Pentax M 50mm f1.7, wide open at f1.7 and around minimum focus distance:

The flower is sharp, but DoF is miniscule

Some great work product ... thanks all ... if the sun comes out, I'll be out in the garden for some more bokeh experiments, J

Hello everyone,

I recently joined PF and through the marketplace was able to purchase my first Pentax. I now have a K5 with an 18-135.

I have wanted a Pentax for many years, so obviously I am thrilled. I also, in my past short excursion into photography found close up and macro photography to be my favorite. I am enjoying all the photos posted here. Makes me anxious to get started again!

I have spent weeks perusing ebay for a suitable lens and had an awakening. I really don't know enough about lenses to choose just the right one to achieve the sharpness with the type of bokeh I want.
So, I think the best bet is hang out here, listen and learn. When the time is right I will get a lens from a forum member. I don't think I'll be misguided then. I hope you all will chime in to help me learn and make the right choice. Perhaps more than many of you, for reasons I won't go into, each non necessary(heat, elec, mtg.type non necessary) purchase I make impacts my finances. I usually can't do a redo. I have learned to make my choices wisely.

Looking forward to your new photos and input.

Thanks,
Deb

Forgive me, just realized this should have been a new thread and not posted in a reply box. :-(
