A really great, under-appreciated lens. Can be got for a song, too.
one of my all time favourites, and comes fairly close to my $1100 fuji 56 1.2

Wow, really ?!

I need to "re-visit" mine ... it's at the back of the shelf, behind all the 1.4 50's ... bad me.

it is pretty darn sharp wide open (the fujii is better don't get me wrong, I'd put the fuji against just about any lens in it's category with the exeption of maybe some of the insane leica stuff - it's pretty magic and razor sharp starting at f2.0 or so which I can't say about the tak

and i love the1.4 50s but they render cooler, i like the warmer tones of the 55

If you wanted 2 great lenses for under £10 each you'd be mad not to get an STak 55/1.8 and a Helios 44-2.

Square bokeh. Very innovative, I like it. I have an MC Industar-61 LZ M42 50mm2.8 Macro. At some settings the aperture blades form a star shape. Really makes for unique bokeh effects.

So, how did you modify the blades on your lens to get the square shape?
I've put up a tutorial here

Miranda 50mm f1.9,
plastic manual K-mount. Posting this one mostly as reference, not necessarily because the bokeh itself is so artistic with this lens
