Turned wet and cold after a week of 80F. Maybe it is the cold darkness, but I can't seem to get the focus just right today......I guess I could blame Pentax, that's what Otis recommends. He says that would bring out the Fanboys and they would give me a good licking like he says I deserve.......but I don't think the problem is Pentax. When the ISO goes up, everything suffers a little...or a lot, in most any camera or brand.

Anyhow, the bokeh is still decent!

Regards!

FlorinR...NIce feather shot! Sideways bokeh...that's unusual!

don't tell anyone, but, it is my goal to at some stage replace (or add to my existing Pentax manual lenses) with some C.Z. lenses, still saving

Which do you have? Liking the 85 1.4.

Mate, I don't think you can go wrong whichever direction you head, a good fast manual lens (Pentax or CZ) and a focusing screen for wide apertures is something to enjoy. I know I do.

I have five Zeiss, the Distagons 25/2.8 and 35/2 as well as the Planar 85/1.4 which are usually advertised regularly on ebay in ZK mount. The Distagon 2/28 and Planar 50/1.4 come up fairly regularly too, though I don't have either. For me the pick of the regular bunch on eBay is the 2/35. The 85 is a nice tele and would make an interesting alternative to the 77 LTD I see that you have/

The other two I have are the rarer Makro Planar 2/50 and 2/100. I'd love to find a 21/2.8 in ZK mount but rocking horse poo comes to mind with that one. The 2/100 is my favourite by a whisker from the 2/50.

I certainly like the rendering of the Zeiss lenses, and they've been a part of evolving what/how I take images of; people in the environment has become a very common theme particularly with the 50mm, the 85 wasn't seeing much love but then I started to use it for compressing distance scenes and found it to be particularly useful to capture more detail than the 50 and more of the environment than the 100. Who needs zooms with lenses like these?

Anyhoo, best of luck with the LBA.

FS? Those are wonderful shots, but did you get permission from Otis to post in this thread? You sort of make guys like me look bad with that kind of superb work.

We had some sno-keh here yesterday morning, which is highly unusual for our area...it was 80F on Christmas day. It did give me a few brief moments of wonderful light for my 50-500 Bigma.

Otis asked..."What the hell is this stuff?"

His little pinkies got cold and he asked me to buy him some gloves...

The doves were all fluffed up to keep warm.

It looked like winter...it felt like winter!

Regards & Happy New Year to all the posters that make this a great thread!

Otis is cute! I'd love to take such shots, but hey... our European squirrels are shiest (or simply too fast).

Striking back at cancer

Zeiss 85/1.4 @ f1.4 (this is back focussed slightly but with moving people at night it's what I got then he was gone)

Taken a couple of years ago at the Leukaemia Foundation's Light the Night event. A worthy cause and a great opportunity to get out with a fast lens like the 85/1.4.

For the Australians who want to check it out here's their website: Light the Night 2015 | Home Page
