I've been following the bokeh discussion on and off. Was there a conclusion? I find yours an interesting comment - that the bokeh in this photo is unsuitable. Unsuitability implies intent, doesn't it? I am at work, so can't post right now, but I have a couple of photos made with the same lens (Tair 2.8/135). One has a pretty much monotone green background - great for presenting the pink bougainvillea flower that you can see on the photo. The other has bubbles - not so great for presenting the hosta flower, but great for presenting something else - the bubbles created by reflections off the lake present (to me) the memory of a beautiful summer day. I look at the first photo and I see a nice bougainvillea. I look at the second and remember a beautiful day. In that limited comparison, the busy bokeh is unsuitable for presenting the hosta, but suitable for presenting something else...
