The Jays are flying pigs. That's why the squirrels keep a sap sucker posted on the Peanut Tree 24/7 to assure no Jays get that sap when it starts to flow!

These are with the Japanese (possibly Tokina) made m42 Sears f2.8 135mm -- NOT the lauded Korean-made K-mount Auto Sears f2.8 135mm with Macro, NO not that one -- but this is what this older, not close-focusing model can do on cropped sensor at its closest focus point...in the shade I might add!

I need to trot it out with about 10mm of extension tube when the smaller spring wildflowers come out.

(Much smaller renditions of these were xposted probably in the Sears lens thread last summer.)

Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5 wide open. Surprisingly good performance with the sun in the frame (!)

It completely obliterated the background here. I was satisfied with the colors and overall rendition too:

/E sorry I really don't have a clue how to post pictures. lol

If you look at the symbols above the reply text box, you'll see that there is a square one with a blue mountain in it and a red sun. When you click it, you get a window, where you can paste the link to your picture. Then when you click "OK" the link goes into your text wherever your cursor was. Then when you finish your post and click SUBMIT REPLY, the image should appear.

When choosing the code on Flickr, choose the "BB Code" option. Be sure to select a size that is appropriate for the forum, about 800 to 1024 pixels wide for landscape oriented photos.

I went ahead and fixed it for you here, no charge.

I just reminded this smirky squirrel that the Mods can "Fix" squirrel shots here too...by deleting them!

"I just stole these sunflower seeds from a birdfeeder and no one could stop me!"

Just put up a new Cheater Branch......and got my first shot of a critter on it this morning. It took a while, it had to go through rigid testing by the squirrels to certify it would produce Peanut Tree sap....it passed!

See that tree in the middle background? I will hang some colorful leaves on it and get some nice bokeh. Sure, it is cheating, but like squirrels I learned from....cheating can be fun!

Regards!

Rupert: Looking at the EXIF, what lens are you using for these, the 150-450?

When it comes to image processing, it's common to process for white balance, exposure, etc. But do you guys process for bokeh? The look of bokeh can change quite a bit, and I was wondering if you make a conscious effort to process for the look of it in particular...

Rupert's squirrels are taking over this thread, we have to act now

So, here's some more wildlife with FA 77 and the K5IIs, very little to no cropping. There are times when I would like the AF on the K5IIs to be a bit better... although, I didn't bother to calibrate my FA 77 so that's on me.

Only when the bokeh is a major part of the photo.

Purple and pink and wow

For example, in this photo, a lot of the frame is dedicated to the OoF area. So I applied a mask. The subject has less NR and more sharpening and contrast. The OoF area has more NR, does not need sharpening or contrast. Not massive differences, just a little (actually the differences were done with just one gradient in LR). But in another shot, you might want to add contrast on the bokeh itself. Depends on the mood you want to go for.
That's my answer - looking forward to reading what you guys do
