Picked this up tonight. First two are the initial test shots taken sitting in the car and last two are after coming home of water on the windshield and hood.

Always love a doggie shot...and that is a nice one!

Got in a Rokinon 85mm f1.4 yesterday...it is my intention to shoot naked girls if I run across any. I did a few test shots with Mrs Rupert...though she refused to get naked...and at f1.4 I will need a lot of practice to get a sharp shot....This was my best effort out of 5-6 shots, and it is way off. I might have stayed and done better, but she was folding a big load of clothes and she was getting that look, you know the look of "Help me fold these clothes". So I got the heck out of there!

Let's see if I can make any future improvement at f1.4? I sure can't handle it now!

Regards!

I doubt you'll see much improvement on portraits like this one - the DOF at f/1.4 is just too thin! You can see Gail's right shoulder and the leaf pattern/collar on her shirt are in focus, but her face is not. You might need to stop down to f/2.8 or even f/4 to get everything in the focal plane. Try some flowers - or you can't go wrong with a squirrel portrait!

Yes, I am finding that 1.4 is not a practical setting unless you are using a tripod and live view with focus peaking. By the time you get to f2.5 it is much easier and f4 is a snap. I'll need some practice, haven't done much MF in a while. Otherwise, this is a very nice lens. Very sharp and well built too. Should provide good color and skin tones if any naked girls happen by!

No good for squirrels...they started spitting at me right away with the 85mm mounted, and demanded the big long Bigma that is more worthy of their handsomness.

Regards!

Thank you - she's my sweetheart - and such a patient model - she was longing to go outside and chase her Kong toy, but I made her wait for a snapshot first!

You are welcome...I love Doggies! We were just talking Doggies over here minutes ago......

Amazingly, my squirrels love Doggies too....as long as they can't climb too high in the big oaks!

Regards!

My last shot of the day.....in brilliant light on part of the bird...so hard to shoot reds unless the light is soft and perfect.

K-1 + FA77 at a restaurant with VERY low light. This would have been impossible without the K-1

Fun fact. All of the restaurants coffee mugs had my first name on the bottom....
