Garden bokeh with the bokina

Three shots from my garden taken with K-1 and Tokina AT-X 90mm f 2.5 macro. (EXIF says something else, but these are all with the Tokina AT-X, nicknamed the bokina because of its fine backgrounds.)

The last image really grabbed my attention. Wonderful colors on my monitor.

"I don't need primes", they say. "My f/2.8 zoom is fast enough for everything I need", they say.

So I made a quick comparison this morning between an f/2.8 shot and a f/1.4 shot. Obviously this is one situation where you might want creamy bokeh and lots of it - lots of other types of photographic situations benefit from way more DOF than this. But I thought the difference was interesting enough to post here.

Here's the f/2.8 shot...

And here's the f/1.4 shot.
