I did a foolish thing. A guy in the UK was selling an interesting-sounding lens, and I jumped on it.

As the name suggests, the Schneider Cinelux-Ultra 2/125mm is a projector lens for 70mm cinema film. It has been adapted to Pentax 645 mount by The Bokeh Factory (Tom Widlak in Poland). Wide open is the only aperture you get, and it is designed to give light, not receive it.

I'm hoping it will make a nice soft-focus portrait lens. In the meantime, learning its quirks is going to be a fun ride.

Looks good to me! The in-focus flowers look like they are hovering freely above the background. It makes for a very interesting 3d effect.

Taken at a butterfly "zoo" with a 200mm SMCA macro*, a lens that can do almost everything right.

*EXIF data is not correct. I didn't reset for this lens.

I had no LBA two weeks ago. Then I realized that I did not have this lens. I'm infected again. Thanks for stirring it up with this fantastic shot, Presto.

My wife borrowed my K10D and F80-200 to capture these "doggies in the bluebonnets" shots.

No bokeh here - just wanted to show the scene, which only reveals about 25% of the local bluebonnet fields:

EBAY commonly has two or three on offer, commonly from Japan, commonly in excellent condition, and commonly $2000 and up. I got mine for $750 a long time ago. I remember the price because it was far more than I had ever paid for a lens.

Checked EBAY a little while back. About six or seven on offer ranging from about $2400 to $3300.
