Well, the general consensus is that the more aperture blades in the lens gets it from the hex to the smooth perfectly round circles, the more blades also means a more precise and a more expensive piece. I for one don't believe in the notion of the "more expensive glass has to mean a better piece" philosophy...

You are correct, just depends on the blade design....

K 50mm F/1.2 doesn't really do hexagonal bokeh I don't think its ever left F/1.2 other than for tests!

Vivitar 135/2.8 Close Focusing

Back at ya Rick - great lighting! Is that a rooftop in the b/g? Works very well. I think I've got my LBA under control, but it would be hard for me to pass up a good deal on a Viv 135 CF !

Great shots, Joe - you have the 'bubble bokeh' going big time on the first one. The 2nd one is just awesome...

Thanks guys - that Rikenon P really produces some great shots, wide open and stopped down. I have always loved that lens...

Thanks, Paul... the Vivitar 135 CF is probably the sharpest lens I have wide open! That's the slate roof of my garage, which sits down a hill a bit...

Here is one of my latest photographs of some fresias. I took this photo with at Pentax 135mm f3.5. Wonderful lens, just like its little brother Pentax 28mm f3.5.

my Cosina 100mm macro gives decent bokeh at f 3.5...

and the trusty SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.7 isn't too shabby either...

(I posted a bad scan 100% crop of another version of this photo earlier, but this one is much, much better)
