Thanks. It's actually a chameleon. The sad part is that the hedges that they used to live in have made way for security walls and the cars have decimated them. I used to see them often, now I am lucky to see them once a year.

Thanks You have to get fairly close to use this lens for birding, at least with smaller birds. Most serious birders will opt for something longer (which means bigger, heavier, and way more expensive), like a 400mm or 500mm. Another possibility is the DA*300, which isn't longer but still sufficiently sharp to enable more cropping - and fast enough to enable the use of a teleconverter. That I wouldn't try with the 55-300.

That said, I love my 55-300. It's very good for what it is - reasonably sharp and very small and light for a 300mm. Ideal for hiking and travelling, which is where I use it the most.
