I can count over a hundred Whitewing doves on my fence this morning....or any morning or afternoon. I could eat like a king for a long time!

Nice shots Paul....for the 18-55, which we don't normally think of for nice bokeh, they are very good!

Nice Shot Tim!......However, it did scare the little blind orphan squirrels.....do you guys do that on purpose?

Shot in the cold this morning......it has bokeh, but not all that inviting.

Regards!

Thanks Rupert. The kit lens might not be ideal for these types of shots, but it can produce some nice results in the right circumstances. Nice jay, too!

Cross posted in the 15mm LTD thread. This was at f5.6. Kinda makes you wonder what all the fuss is about with people saying only FF can do shallow DOF. With a 15mm on APS-c at f5.6 the zone of focus here is about 8 inches. The bokeh and lack of CA are what impresses me though. Magic!

Ya, I know what you're saying, but, you can only do what you can do... no sense on wasting time on stuff you can't do.

Yep, you're right. I could do more if I was not behind this desk......but then I'd have to give up my coffee cup and warm office, get out in the cold wind and wait for something to show up. In here I just put out the feed, sit and sip coffee and shoot what shows up at feeding time twice a day! It's the "Otis Way" of getting things done......path of least resistance, I believe!

Your Jay is better than mine, I like the natural surrounding better than an old wooden fence....but......I was nice and warm when I shot mine!

Mine improves, a little, if the color is corrected just a tab, and lightened up some. Still can't do away with that old fence!
Something below ISO 3200 would have been a benefit too.

I keep thinkin' I'm gonna' get out there in the wild and shoot......but with all those damn squirrels, it's sort of scary.

Regards!

Nice Blue Jays Norm and Rupert. I wish I would see something other that a sparrow.

This one is a bit different, DA*50-135 135mm f3.2.

Different is good! I'd love to get something different for a change, but my laziness keeps getting in the way. Maybe I will get a burst of energy? Otis says I am the original "low energy" shooter.......and you know Otis is always right!

What a little beauty she is! Great shot!

If you like doves.....I always have plenty here!

Early morning on the Cheater Branch....the Bigma bokeh was pretty bright this morning! Otis claims birds are worthless critters only good for making gravy......these would make some nice gravy!
