Possibly. It is one that stays here all year, and I shot it perched on the rose hips guarding the feeder. The hood is a very deep magenta color, and I had trouble getting it captured correctly. The second shot gets a bit of it, but it came out too violet in PP. Also, in the first photo the back of the bird's head shows green, but when the light hit it just so the whole head was magenta.

It looked like the bird had a full hood.

Right now the activity is at a peak. About 100 birds are constantly fighting over the 7 feeders I am maintaining. I have been observing them the last few weeks, and there are several that look like this one, and at least 3 other varieties are coming around, mostly Rufous.

This is a page full of wonderful shots and outstanding bokeh!

My shooting has dwindled as I fight this pneumonia.....but I am making progress I do believe!

Nasty stuff, I hope none of you ever get this strain, it is tough to beat...young or old.

I'll just "bunch up" what I have shot the last couple of days.....noting of any real magnitude, but it keeps me going!

"Is that a squirrel yelling at me to get away from his feeder?"

"He'd better back off, or I will snap off his head with my razor teeth!"

"Just kiddin'...but don't push your luck squirrel!"

"I'm more interested in that sap than raccoon leftovers!!"

"A little flowed out this morning and it was heavenly!"

"I got every last sticky drop!"

"Except a little dab I dropped on the ground."

"That's all folks!"

A few more recent efforts with my Single Challenges lens .... a Spiratone Plura-Coat 20/2.8, the re-badged Soligor lens ... most shot wide open for the bokeh on my K-1 ...
