WOW Taks these are stunning! Great 3D effect in the second one. The first and last though are my favorite.

new-to-me lens:

Congrats . You went with the Porst. You get that famous Tomioka 55/1.2 bokeh for the fraction of the price. Good choice. Can't go wrong with any 1.2 lens really.

An early attempt at bokeh from 2011 with the K100D and 18-55 kit lens at iso800:

thank you - I went with Porst rather than the Pentax K or A 50/1.2 simply because I did not need the sharpness of the Pentax lens (I already have the A50/1.4) and I could not pass up the price on this one from Germany...

Good thinking. Stopping down a bit improves sharpness but bokeh is unaffected (which is better than the K or A 50/1.2). I saw the auction you won. You did well. I wouldn't pass that up either.

yes - I'm surprised by the bokeh at f16 (fully closed) and how similar it is to f1.2...

additionally, this is not a broad-daylight lens - too much ghosting and CA, even with a moderate hood...

Wait what?? I thought "at f16" was a typo and you meant "f1.6". Should have realized lens doesn't have a f1.6 setting. Wow that's impressive! Starting to get why Tomiokas are so expensive.

I agree the daylight performance isn't great, but still that kind of bokeh fully stopped down is unbelievable. I kinda want one now...thanks...

bingo - the f-stops are '1.2' then '2', with nothing in-between....

my wife likens the bokeh to water falling down the image...

That second shot is incredible. Looks like it has a pretty short MFD. You're not helping my LBA at all

MFD is under 3', probably closer to about 30"...

LBA? considering you can get one of these for less than $200, why wouldn't you? especially if you know that it is not going to be a razor-sharp, multipurpose lens, but one that has boatloads of character....
