I have never seen the deer nose in detail before, even from National Geographic, ( it is possible they have images of a deer nose that I have not seen) , one reason I love deer portraits...with the 400 with or without a TC..I am still working on getting more detail from inside the ear.....the whites are to me an issue with my set-up, my love for low ISO and the numerous trees around my property....and my distaste for post processing to correct my mistakes in image taking......the uploaded photo is typical of my backyard lighting.......always a challenge that I may or may not succeed at...

Whitetail with tombstone bokeh. A herd of deer living in a local cemetary gives me opportunities to get closer than I would ever get in the wild. It looks like this one is still in the process of shedding its winter coat.

Mostly managed to avoid donuts with my Tamron 55BB 500mm mirror.

This is my next goal. To get better detail in the ears. My histograms are all color spikes, using levels and curves have got me this close with the colors, now to get zero vibration at low ISO and low shutter speed! This lens and the K3-II will take incredible images at many different shutter speed, f stops but the iso needs to be below 400 for the sharpest images. F stops will go higher once I am sure camera/lens shake has been stopped. A pixel shift trial will also come soon...just in case I am missing something with pixel shift.
