FYI, in case you don't know, I think that is "bird's foot trefoil" AKA "toad flax." A very pretty little plant that does well on rather poor quality sandy soil.

Oh yeah, something snapped a couple years ago, and that's what I think about when I'm walking/mowing/working...my problem is still getting the picture in my mind to match what's coming out of the camera

I thought it looked like bird's-foot trefoil, too. It is sometimes planted as a ground cover, or included as a nitrogen-fixing legume in grass seed mixes, not lawn seed, not necessarily hay seed or pasture seed, but seed for other areas where permanent grassy cover is needed.
