Wow, Ed. Now I know what you meant by "ninja star" bokeh! Strange how the bokeh goes from crazy in a good way at f/2.8 and even (mostly) at f/4 to nervous and edgy (in a ninja-star way). But wide open . . . yes.

Thanks for posting a comparison series!

One sharp stalk of pinks among many smeared by bokeh. There were a lot more bokehed pinks before cropping. This image has the effect I wanted, in the original with far more background the sharp flowers are too small & hard to see.

Yes - the test served me as well in rating this lens for personal use - like you stated = wide open it is.

The lens is the Auto-Tak 35 2.3. My avatar is from the game Apollo Justice in the Phoenix Wright series
