Maybe the ant staggered over from a local marijuana farm.

I'm as tolerant as my brain will accept, fighting my heart & guts & upbringing, but ever since the move to legalize pot gained traction I've had this fear of a highway full of cars, half the drivers drunk and the other half just chillin' in a smokey miasma, and neither group with a care or even aware that I'm on the road as well.

Second bunch of pictures from an older series with K5IIs and FA 77 Ltd. At that time I didn't have any longer telephoto so I had to get really close.

Roads are rough nowadays. Sum into that the avid texters...I am glad to drive in heavy traffic for the sole reason that most crashes will turn to be fender-benders and non-life threatening.

K1 image that I've been reluctant to post as it didn't come out as well as I intended.

After a three-day garage sale, I was wiped out Saturday afternoon, but not to the point that I wasn't lured outside with my K-3ii and EBC Fujinon 55/3.5 macro. I made a dozen or so exposures of flowers and milkweed leaves, all of which I deleted when I saw them on the big screen.

I did, however, keep the image below. A tiny bee hovered near the flower, steady in the breeze that kept the flower swaying in and out of focus. I tried to capture it near the flower, but of course it had its own ideas. Still, somehow I managed to capture it in focus as it flew away. So, an in-focus image of a tiny bee from behind (I suppose there's a latent pun in that word), set off rather strikingly by the smooth, creamy bokeh rendered by the EBC Fujinon 55.3.5.

The shutter speed was 1/1000 sec. at ISO 100. It was underexposed since it had darted into the shadows and gave me no time to adjust anything, so I boosted exposure in LR by 2.24. Also, it's a very small portion of the full frame (maybe an eighth of the frame?), cropped to get the bee to a discernable size.

Not a great image--who, besides another bee and an entomologist, wants to see the back side of a bee?--but the bokeh's nice, thanks to the EBC Fujinon lens. (Another, out-of-focus image captured the beautiful iridescence of the bee's wings, but I won't share that one.)

If you're ever in southern Wisconsin, you should look up Golden Booty Cream Ale from Lake Louie (Arena, WI). Here's what the website says about it:

GOLDEN BOOTY CREAM ALE –
Formally known as Coon Rock Cream Ale, this beer is a “pre-prohibition” Cream Ale produced with flaked corn for a very creamy and full-bodied beer. Lightly hopped with traditional varieties that would have been grown in Wisconsin a hundred years ago. The ultimate “Lawn Mower Beer.”
4.8% ABV | 18 IBU

It's a great everyday brew that used to be known as Coon Rock Cream Ale (Coon Rock being an area nearby, also the source of the name Coon Rock Rd.), but Tommy Porter changed the name when he renamed some of his other brews. (And yes, Tommy's last name really is Porter. Born to brew, it seems.)
