For Iheiramo, after looking at your various birches. . . . This one's in Spring Green, Wisconsin. . . .

Another for Iheiramo, another birch tree just around the block from our house in Spring Green, made on October 20, 2013:

Thagomizer, are those Sugar Maple leaves or Norway Maple? I have no idea what's prevalent in Ontario. . . .

Here in Spring Green, WI, Sugars are indigenous, while Norways are introduced and invasive. (Our village leaders don't understand that "invasive" means undesirable, at least when it comes to vegetation.)

Anyway . . . I like the image a lot!

Piotrek K, Pepperberry . . . you two are making me want to get rid of the tab and the pin on my EBC Fujinon 55/1.8 with all these October posts.

Sweet bokeh from that f/2.2. I'm remembering the 55/1.8 as having sweet bokeh, too, but now I'll have to operate to find out. . . . Either that, or put some film in my ST801 (an under-rated camera if ever there was one).

No idea. I'm afraid I have no idea what's prevalent in Ontario either! Some of the maples here have yet to change colour, others have already done so and dropped their leaves. We've certainly got our share of invasive species too, but I'm more of a bird guy than a tree or plant/flower guy, so I'm not much help.

I'm not so good with flowers, but trees I'm a bit better with, Thagomizer. On that particular tree . . . if you pluck a leaf off at the stem and the base of the stem oozes a milky substance (kinda like milkweed would), that's a Norway Maple. A Sugar Maple won't ooze anything in that way. That's always seemed counter-intuitive to me, but that's how it is. Norways have a much shorter life span than do Sugars, too, though it's not too likely that a single observer would be able to document that conclusively. . . .

I need to immerse myself in birdwatching again. And lichen photography. But right now, sleep. . . .

more music photos

Here are some more photos from the "Scatty" Barn here in Spring Green. The first is of Holly Hansen (of Zoo Animal, out of Minneapolis), made with my K 85/1.8, probably stopped down to f/2.8, though I can't be sure. The second is of Damien Jurado (out of Seattle, WA), also made with the K 85. The close shot of Damien's left hand fretting was made with the M 120/2.8, wide open or very close to it. The image with the audience, Damien, and the lights in bokeh was made with the K 24/2.8, and the last image, with the focus on the hat in the foreground, was made with the M 120/2.8; both of the last two were likely made wide-open.
